Here Comes the Tenses! - 4 Simple Past

 

• for completed actions and events in the past
  We caught the bus.

• time stated is finished (time stated is not finished, use present perfect)
  I spent this morning studying maths. (it's now afternoon)

• past period of time with for or ago
  I lived there for four years.
  I finished it half an hour ago.

• at a particular time in the past
  Flight 206 landed at one o'clock.
