過去完成式 [had + past participle 過去分詞] & 過去式

時式總共 12 式，好采最常用只有 5 式。現在談談作故事時最常用的 2 式。

First the diamond had disappeared, but now the security guard was missing.  ( 先是鑽石不見了，可是現在連護衛也失了蹤。 )

Past Perfect Tense loves to hang out* with Simple Past. 過去完成式愛與過去式 "浦" ；兩個子句以 when 、 by the time 、 because 等連接詞連成一句。次序是過去完成式先發生。

e.g.  Judy had lived in Japan, so I called her to find out more about the culture and lifestyle there.  ( Judy 在日本住過，所以我揾她講吓當地之化及生活。 )

若 A 事件才剛發生， B 事件緊接發生，亦以返句型來表示「一......，就......」：
     no sooner had 主詞 A + 過去分詞 + than 主詞 B + 過去式動詞No sooner had Jerry left the house than it started to rain.

若用了 after 或 before 這些連接詞表示動作的次序，先後分明，兩句都用過去式便可以。又或是一連串動作順序的也可全用過去式。

e.g.  She knelt down, listened and peeped into the house through keyhole.  ( 她蹲下，聽，再從栓孔中窺看。 )
